A YWCA Membership connects you with a Movement. YWCA's around the world are built and shaped by membership, a principle, and tradition which YWCA St. John’s values and upholds. Our memberships are philosophical. By becoming a member, you:

  • Make a statement: the needs of women, girls, and gender diverse folks are important, and gender justice and equity must be fundamental goals for our community.

  • Are supporting the existence of a YWCA in your community, as well as the existence of YWCA Canada and the World YWCA: your membership supports and champions the YWCA movement around the globe.

  • Are invited to participate in membership meetings (including Annual General Meeting), where business is settled and our Board of Directors is elected (note that only voting members, as defined below, are eligible to vote).

  • Are informed via email of programs, events, and news regarding your local YWCA.

Individuals are not required to be members to access YW programs and services. Membership is, however, required to vote at our Annual General Meeting, where business matters are settled and the Board of Directors is elected. Categories of membership are as follows:

  • Voting Member: Any person female-identified and 16 years of age or over (eligible to vote thirty days after becoming a member), who supports the Vision and Mission of YWCA St. John’s (click here to learn more)

  • Supporting Member: Any person who supports the Vision and Mission of YWCA St. John’s (click here to learn more), and is not eligible to be a Voting Member (as described above; note that this is a non-voting membership)

  • Organizational Member: Any organization which supports the Vision and Mission of YWCA St. John’s (click here to learn more; note that this is a non-voting membership)

The membership rate is $20, for all categories of membership. If the cost of membership is prohibitive for you, please contact us to discuss a discounted or subsidized membership. There are two ways to join YWCA as a member: either click the Buy Now link below, or complete this membership form and send it via mail with payment. 

Please note: membership is renewable annually; membership term runs January 1 – December 31.
